New Parent Engagement Course By Debbie Pushor

I am excited to share that I have designed a new parent engagement course, being offered for the first time this fall: ECUR 485 Parent Engagement in the Early Years

The course was developed for students who are practicing educators, enrolled in an Early Childhood Education Certificate program at the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout the course, we will interrogate our images of child, parent, and teacher, in order to make conscious our beliefs and assumptions and work from a strengths-based perspective in which we view all as capable learners and teachers. We will also develop practices that facilitate reciprocal interactions between children, parents, and teachers, both on and off the school landscape, and within community contexts.

Assignments include conducting a relational home visit and co-constructing curriculum with parents. The course will be offered in 3 hour classes on Wednesday evenings from September 8th through December 1st, 2021.

If you are interested in seeing the syllabus for this exciting new offering, you can sign up for the mailing list and I will ensure you get access soon! Click here to sign up.
