“I’m asking you to live in the world differently.”
Consultation
Debbie offers consultation services to groups and organizations looking to develop and/or implement a strategic plan for parent engagement. She assists you in assessing where you are currently at in regard to parent engagement, in unpacking foundational beliefs and assumptions underlying your policies, procedures, and practices. She can also help to connect different organizations in or across jurisdictions to work synergistically together to maximize impact. No matter what stage you are at in the process, whether you’re looking for a review of your implemented strategies or you’d simply like to start the conversation, Debbie would be delighted to support you.
Debbie will work with your group and also work with you to build a larger parent engagement community around you.
Please be in touch, explaining a bit about your needs and goals, for a quote.
Presenting
Debbie presents locally, nationally, and internationally to a wide-range of audiences including parents, educators, school leaders, school and division teams, community and educational organizations, Boards of Education, Ministries of Education, and academic audiences. As someone who lives as both educator and parent, and who knows this work as researcher and teacher, mother and leader, teacher educator and advisor, Debbie is passionate about helping others see the power of parent engagement and the monumental impact it can have on a child’s education, a parent’s role in their child’s life, and a teacher’s role in the life of a family. Debbie speaks about dismantling the marginalization of parents in relation to the school landscape and about empowering students, teachers, and parents to collaborate in a way that’s meaningful and impactful for all.
If you’d like to invite Debbie to present at a conference or event or speak to your organization, please be in touch. She tailors her presentations directly to your goals and intentions.

FAQs
Are you willing to travel to speak or present?
Definitely. It has been a highlight of my career in non-Covid times! In fact, it is one of my favorite things to do. It is always so valuable to meet people in person and to visit organizations and schools in order to develop a deeper and more knowledgeable sense of the context in which I am working.
Do you give presentations virtually?
The world-wide pandemic has invited all of us to work in new ways! I have presented, taught classes, been on panels, and engaged in recorded dialogue. While I am anything but an expert in technology, the IT support that organizations provide – and those advanced practice sessions – make anything possible! I am always up to the challenge!
What are your credentials?
I have been an educator for 40 years and a mom for 30 of those years! During 20 years in public education, I worked in roles as teacher, consultant, principal, and central services administrator. During my 20 years to date in higher education, I have fulfilled roles as teacher educator, researcher, and community services provider. During my 30 years as a mom to date, I have parented my three adult sons through their formalized schooling, sometimes involved in their schooling, or serving as a member of their School Council, but always and ever engaged in their education in out of school times and places!
