Dis/Positioning Oneself to Walk Alongside

Today, October 5th, I am presenting in a graduate class at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia entitled, Cross-Cultural Issues in Education: Families and Communities. Together we will be discussing how educators can “dis/position” themselves in order to build meaningful and authentic relationships with parents and families. We will then explore how it is through these deep relationships that teachers gain insight into parent knowledge and how to use that knowledge to better inform teaching and learning for their students.
