Announcing a New Podcast Series: School Interrupted

Putting Familycentric Schools in Place of our Current Schoolcentric Structures

Today we are delighted to announce the upcoming release of School Interrupted, a podcast series on creating familycentric schools brought to you by Dr. Debbie Pushor and former graduate students from the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Debbie Pushor has worked in relationship with a group of her incredible (former) graduate students to bring this project to life. Those people are Michael Crowe, Stacey Crowe, Randi Bender, Andrea Neufeldt-Rodda, Lindsay Munroe, Katelynn Hopkins, Tom Claxton, Rebecca Fisher, Haylee Olver, and Jess Wall. Each of them will be hosting an episode in the series, which also features a collection of diverse and passionate guests. 

“I've had the privilege of walking alongside ten amazing educators as we've worked on this podcast series. Their work is situated right from the early years through to adult education. Some of them I've known a really, really long time. I taught them as undergraduate students, and then again as master's students. Others I met as I worked with them in their master's program. So, it's such a pleasure to produce this podcast series with them, to learn with them, to learn from them, to extend my own thinking because of their practices and their new ideas and their work in the schools and contexts in which they're located,” said Debbie.

Join Dr. Debbie Pushor and former graduate students in discussions about the transformative nature of parent engagement in schools. From co-constructing teaching and learning in nature with parents to looking inward as teachers at one’s white saviour complex, from inspiring change in schools to make them more familycentric, to the challenges and triumphs of creating meaningful relationships with parents as a teacher, you’ll find it all here. We ALL have a vested interest in schooling! These brilliant and engaging explorations are for educators, parents, and learners alike. Join us on the shifting landscape of schools; this is School Interrupted. 

We will be releasing one episode each week on Mondays that can be found wherever you listen to podcasts. Today, the trailer is officially live and you can listen to it here.
